Thank You, Minister
Last week, Premier Jacinta Allen announced a revised ministry and cabinet following the retirement announcements of several current ministers. Those ministers won’t contest the 2026 state election and will therefore vacate their ministries for now.
This reshuffle has seen Steve Dimopoulos transition to the Economic Growth and Jobs portfolio, whilst retaining Sport and Major Events. The changes also mean that Steve will vacate the Recreation (Boating) ministry, which will be taken up by Enver Erdogan, along with Environment.
The BIAV President, Scott O’Hare, and the Board, on behalf of members, would like to congratulate Minister Dimopoulos on his new role; however, more importantly, to thank him for his great efforts and outcomes as Boating Minister since October 2023. It was right on the eve of the 2023 Melbourne Boat Show that the newly coined minister immersed himself in the industry by attending the boat show, meeting many stakeholders, and showing great interest. As minister, he’s been able to further situate and strengthen Better Boating Victoria (BBV), sign off on three strong annual BBV work plans, explore major project opportunities for boating infrastructure, lock in BIAV’s industry support via boat shows for four years, boost stakeholder engagement, and give a sense that things are possible and can be achieved. “It has been fantastic to work with Steve Dimopoulos as minister. He has listened, immersed himself in our industry, and delivered results. We are extremely grateful, and wish him well in his next challenges,” stated BIAV President Scott O’Hare.
BIAV looks forward to working with the new minister, Enver Erdogan and expects that to happen as soon as he’s settled into his new portfolio.
