VALE Peter Horman
BIAV is sad to pass on the news of the passing of one of its ‘originals’, Peter Horman. Peter passed away on 3 December at the ripe old age of 91.
Peter, who did a great deal for the industry in the 1960s, began his marine career with International Marine and later served as the company's General Manager, working there with characters such as Arch Spooner, a young Barry Spooner, and Bob Ford. Peter was then the owner of the business operating at Eildon Boat Harbour, which was open to the public, hiring out a fleet of houseboats, and running an excellent restaurant. There was also a large marine servicing operation, encompassing a Mercury outboard service, a sales franchise, trailer boat sales, storage and an agency for new and used Cruisers and Houseboats. BIAV Life member and former colleague Peter Buckingham recalls fondly the times they worked together in and for the industry.
On behalf of the BIAV and the wider boating community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Peter’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
Memorial details are awaited, and once known, an update will be provided.
