Election Looming

The next three months will be significant for BIAV Advocacy, with so much change at Spring St currently and the state election looming in November. BIAV’s advocacy efforts in recent years, which have been well documented, have helped deliver great outcomes for boaters, the industry, and BIAV. We do hope and expect that this will continue after the November election, whatever the outcome.

BIAV’s Election Position has been formulated, and the key figures in the major parties are well aware and indicating good signs of support. The BIAV Election Position starts with the recognition that, in recent years, there have been some great outcomes and a greatly improved level of attention to boater and infrastructure needs. Going forward, BIAV sets out that this should continue in the same direction. The three main themes are:

1. To grow, optimise, and further secure (hypothecate) the Better Boating Fund;

2. To provide an escalated attention to, and progress toward transformational projects in the boating (infrastructure) space; and

3. To strive to future-proof Victoria’s multi-billion dollar boat building industry.
