OEDA Launches New 'Job Ready' Marine Technician Program

The Outboard Engine Distributors Association (OEDA) successfully launched its new Job Ready training program, designed to introduce students to careers as marine technicians within the recreational boating industry. Delivered at Mercury Marine's training facility in Dandenong, the hands-on program gave students the opportunity to experience the tools, technology and workplace environment they'll encounter in a marine mechanical career.

The initiative was developed over the past 12 months by a working group comprising the training managers from Honda, Mercury, Suzuki, Tohatsu and Yamaha, with support from BIAV, Marine Jobs and Boating Careers. The program aims to strengthen the industry's workforce pipeline by giving students practical exposure to the marine industry and a clearer understanding of the available career opportunities.

Following the successful Victorian pilot, OEDA plans to roll out the program in Sydney and Brisbane, helping to build the next generation of skilled marine technicians across Australia. More information is available here.
