Marine Mechanical Included in New Apprenticeship Incentives

The Australian Government has updated the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System, effective from 1 January 2026, with a stronger focus on priority occupations through the Key Apprenticeship Program (KAP).

The Cert III in Marine mechanical technology is included in this broader priority framework, linking the trade to occupations that support clean energy and future workforce needs.

Under the KAP program, eligible apprentices may receive up to $10,000 in financial incentives, as well as additional training support payments and access to income-contingent loans. Employers may also be eligible for incentives of up to $5,000, with further support available through priority hiring and group training initiatives.

These changes reinforce the importance of marine mechanical skills within Australia’s evolving workforce and provide practical support for both apprentices and employers.
