New Better Boating Grants Across Victoria
⚓ Smooth Sailing Ahead with New Boating Grants Across Victoria
The Victorian Government has announced nearly $1 million in new boating grants, delivering upgrades and maintenance works that will make boating safer, easier, and more enjoyable across the state.
Announced by Minister for Outdoor Recreation Steve Dimopoulos, the funding will support 19 projects through the Boating Safety and Facilities Program and Dredging and Access Grants Program. The upgrades will enhance access, improve facilities, and ensure better experiences for local communities and visitors alike.
More than $475,000 will go towards maintenance projects at 13 sites, including:
Repairs to the Newhaven boat ramp jetty on Phillip Island
Replacement of damaged concrete at the Kirrang Point boat ramp on Lake Eppalock
Accessibility improvements at Bridgewater Lakes, including a new floating pontoon and ramp extension
Ramp and car park upgrades at Indented Head, Steeles Rock, and Stony Point
Car park resurfacing at Simsons Landing Road in Nelson
A further six projects will share in more than $500,000 for dredging and access works, including $110,000 to dredge the Mallacoota boat ramp and restore safe access affected by sand build-up. Additional works are planned at Clifton Springs, Kananook Creek, Point Richards, Tootgarook, and Brighton–North Road.
“We’re proud to support local communities with projects that make boating safer, easier and more enjoyable for Victorians,” Minister Dimopoulos said. “These facilities are important for tourism and local communities — creating better access, smoother launches and a better experience on the water.”
The Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) welcomes this ongoing investment in the state’s boating infrastructure. These upgrades continue to build safer, more accessible waterways, supporting both recreational participation and the wider marine industry.
