PAYNESVILLE CLASSIC BOAT RALLY

The Paynesville Classic Boat Rally & Maritime Festival will take place from March 1-3, 2024.

You are invited to join Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) as part of the event.

The Event

This free community event, which attracts over 10,000 visitors to Paynesville for the weekend, is held biennially and is now recognised as second in Australia only to the famous Hobart Wooden Boat Festival. In 2020 it was awarded East Gippsland's Community Event of the Year, before succumbing to Covid restrictions. Plans are underway to deliver a spectacular fleet of classic boats on water, ranging from Tall Ships, to sailing vessels, classic motorboats, skiffs, fishing boats, small crafts and more.

On Saturday 2 March, the Grand Parade features all boats available on water as they sail past the crowds and through the McMillan Strait into the open waters of Lake Victoria. Plans are underway for many feature events to be held all weekend as well as cruises on a tall ship. Private boats will be out for a trip on the Gippsland Lakes and return to share stories with other boat lovers. It really is an event for everyone.

On land, the trailered boats will make a fantastic display of classic wooden, fiberglass and rowing boats. Rooftop dinghies will line the foreshore and music, entertainment and maritime stall holders will be discovered.

Boating Careers and a mini-Boatshow display are also in the planning. This will be featured in the event promotional campaign, as well as via a BIAV driven social media program. We hope you’d like to be part of this opportunity to brand build, lead generate, and sell.

There are two options to be involved.

Boating Careers

Boating Careers will have a 6x3m display and will be promoting career options to the 10,000 expected audience of boating enthusiasts. You can join BIAV on the display, promote the type of work you do in the industry, highlight any current or future roles, maybe snap up a new worker or apprentice or two, or just build your presence and brand in the region.

Mini-Boat Show – Exhibitor opportunity

Space in the event precinct has been allocated for a BIAV min-boat show. If you’d like to be part of this and display your boats, boat packages, engines, trailers, equipment, accessories, services and business in general, to the 10,000 expected audience of boating enthusiasts, you can do so, along with BIAV.

Costs

The cost to be part of the Boating Careers display is your time and effort. Join the display for a three-hour period or more, provide display materials, and any career opportunity listings. There is no financial cost to this and BIAV will cover the costs incurred.

For the mini-Boat Show display the cost will be $800 per boat on display (or equivalent space).

Deadline

The cut-off date for involvement is Wednesday 24 January. For planning purposes and to ensure a ‘critical mass’ of exhibits/displays, this date will have to be adhered to.
