COVERCRAFT INCORPORATES PPE FACE SHIELDS INTO PRODUCTION LINE

In the recent months, BIAV member business Cover Craft have managed to make a pivot in production lines to incorporate PPE face shield production. The CAD design technology and automated cutting systems they use to manufacture their boat covers allowed Cover Craft to seamlessly incorporate PPE production into their product line. Within a month, they developed their design in conjunction with a major Victorian hospital and navigated the complex TGA system to achieve certification for the product as a medical device.

Cover Craft have filled some orders for private medical distribution companies and local councils and were in very positive discussions with both federal and state government departments to potentially supply the public hospital system. However, recently Ford Australia has thrown a spanner in the works by announcing they would donate a certain number of their own face shields, which are very similar to Cover Craft’s product.

Well done to Cover Craft on this creative and solution based work. Let’s hope it helps with the COVID crisis and leads to lots of production and work into the future.
