Tugs bring old world charm to Melbourne Boat Show
Making its Victorian debut at this year’s BIA Melbourne Boat Show is the Ranger Tugs R21-EC.
The R21 will join hundreds of boats of all sizes and types at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 3 to 7 July.
Built in the USA for 50 years, the Ranger Tug started life as a 5/8 scale model of a Bristol Bay Trawler.
Today’s Ranger R21-EC trailerable tug is powered by a Yanmar 3YM30 diesel that uses as little as 2-3 litres per hour.
The displacement hull and quality fibregalss construction underpin a boat of old-world style and exceptional economy.
It cruises at 7-9 knots, has a top speed of around 11 knots and is equally at home in coastal and inland waterways.
The Ranger R21-EC is a fine example of high quality workmanship at a price that is particularly affordable thanks to the favourable exchange rates.
This year’s BIA Melbourne Boat Show is the biggest in its 48 year history, and features entertainment including Flathead Fred’s Fun Fishin’ Show for Kids, the Anaconda Climbing Wall and the Yamaha Superstage and giant Yamaha Supertank.
Among the special offers are boat licence training and testing sessions conducted by the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard. The sessions will run at 10.30am and 3pm daily, with additional sessions on Friday July 4 and Saturday July 5 at 6:30pm.
The Melbourne Boat Show is organised by the Boating Industry Association (BIA) of Victoria and runs from Thursday 3 July to Monday 7 July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm daily except Sunday, when the show closes at 7pm, and Monday when the show closes at 8pm.
