The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria (RYCV) is one of the pre-eminent yacht clubs in Victoria, with a strong tradition built from our proud history as a club which had its inception more than 150 years ago. Today, the club provides modern boating facilities, an extensive yachting program, and a range of services for its members and the wider community.
A newly created part time opportunity exists for a motivated person to assist with the Club’s yacht racing program.
Reporting to the Race Director, your role as Assistant Race Officer will comprise on water and administration duties including assisting with;
Race documentation – calendars, Notice of Races and Sailing Instructions
Administering race entries, results and handicaps
On water aspects of race management.
The successful applicant is likely to possess;
Experience in and knowledge of yacht racing
Strong interpersonal skills
Flexibility to work the hours needed to meet demands
Computer skills
Current boat operator’s license
Race Officer qualifications, or a willingness to obtain relevant qualifications

The position involves boat launching and retrieval, travel lift operation, towing of boats and ensuring boats are safe and secure. Some boating knowledge is desirable and the ability to back a trailer is a requirement. We offer on-site training as necessary and some weekend work is involved.

MOTOR MECHANIC
Ideally you should have experienjce in Marine Mechanics. A qualification in Motors would be highly regarded
TAPE and PREP MOULDS (junior)
In fibreglass department, mould preparation work includes masking for colour variation, taping up moulds for window installation and waxing and stripping moulds.
SPEED BOAT ASSEMBLY (senior)
Senior experience with trade background. Previous supervisory experience favourable.
WOODSHOP (senior)
Ideally cabinet making background with previous supervisory experience favourable.
CUTTING BOOTH
To cut componentry for a unit using powertools / handtools, saws, sanders, jigsaw. Your duties include cutting, drilling, sanding, adjusting, pulling parts out of moulds.
FIBREGLASS
Laminator or Gel Coater - previous fibreglass experience necessary.
PRE- ASSEMBLY
You will be required to pre assemble all componentry into a unit on time, as specified and maintain the quality finish as specified by the company; as well as produce quantities on time, as specified in the schedules.
ASSEMBLY (x 4)
You will need to be confident to use the following equipment: Powertools / handtools, spray equipment, saws, drills, jigsaws, spray pots, sanders, glue guns/pots, linisher, router, buzzer, scissors, Stanley knives, air gun.
Your responsibilities will include: Fit out/install and assemble boats in accordance with the specification for the unit, drilling, cutting, setting out, painting, carpentry and wood work, electrical/mechanical work, upholstery etc
