Whittley Marine's flagship Cruisers set sales records

Wednesday, 27 August 2008

The Whittley Cruiser 2600 is now in full production at the rate of one per week to satisfy strong forward orders.

Whittley Marine is setting new sales records with its twin flagships, the Cruiser 2800 and its new running mate the Cruiser 2600.

In the first full year since its launch at the 2007 Melbourne Boat Show, the Cruiser 2800 sold 58 units – a build rate of just over one per week from the Melbourne factory.

The Cruiser 2600 has now ramped up to a similar production rate since its launch at this year’s BIA Melbourne Boat Show.

Australia’s foremost builder of trailerable fibreglass boats has given both models smart European-inspired style, luxurious standard equipment and single-level living and sleeping.

Whittley Co-Owner and Managing Director, Neville Whittley, said demand was strong across the complete Whittley range of Cruisers, Sea Legends and Clearwaters, with good production numbers despite the downturn elsewhere in the industry.

“The exceptional demand for the Cruiser 2600 confirms that many people want the CR2800’s style and function in a slightly smaller, more manageable boat,” he said.

“In designing this boat, we believed our customers would be impressed with the result – and our customers have more than fulfilled out hopes.

“In addition to the fine performance and unrivalled quality for which Whittley is known, there has been a hugely positive response to the up-to-the-minute styling and the sheer comfort and convenience of the layout.

“People love the extensive standard equipment, such as sunroof, fridge, private head and shower and stylish galley, while many customers have taken up the options that allow them to virtually custom-build their own boat.

“There has been remarkably strong demand for options such as air conditioning, bow thrusters, full rear railings and our integrated roof rack and retractable sun awning.”

Whittley Marine Group is Australia’s largest and most awarded builder of trailerable fiberglass boats, with a production capacity of more than 1600 boats per year at its Australian and American plants in Campbellfield, Victoria and Willacoochee, Georgia.
